APC to lead house of Reps.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) set to issue certificates of return on Thursday 14 March 2019 to winners of the national assembly elections held on February 23 2019, a look at the House of Representatives seats declared so far by INEC shows that the ruling All Progressive Congress has a clear majority in the house and is most likely to produce the speaker of the house.

A breakdown of the seats won by each party shows that the All Progressive Congress(APC) has 211 seats which still doesn’t make up to two third majority of the house, while the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has 111.

Other parties which will also be part of the green chambers include: The Action Democratic Congress(ADC) with 3 seats, Peoples Redemption Party(PRP) with 2 seats, The Allied Peoples Movement(APM), African Democratic Party(ADP) and the Social Democratic Party(SDP) each won a seat, while the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) has 6 seats.

Elections are yet to be concluded by the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) for 33 seats.
