Former majority leader of the Rivers State house of assembly and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Dr Chidi Lloyd, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of abandoning members of the Rivers state chapter of the party to their fate despite all their contributions towards the success of the party.
Speaking on Channels television’s politics today, Lloyd accused the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and the Rivers state resident electoral(REC), Mr Obo Effanga of colluding with the Peoples Democratic Party and governor Wike to scuttle the electoral process in Rivers state.
“I say this emphatically, when Obo Effanga noticed that the candidate of the African Action Congress(AAC) was winning and their own preferred candidate wasn’t winning, they immediately did the illegal thing that they did.
Speaking further Lloyd added “the reason why we in Rivers state are being treated like this is because of our support for President Buhari in 2015 and unfortunately for us who supported President Buhari, the president has turned his back on us.
Dr Lloyd alleged that results of the elections from various units were being written in the Rivers state government house under the supervision of the Rivers state REC.
“We are in pains that the president would do this to us, he should look into the activities of INEC”. Lloyd went further to accuse INEC of using known PDP members like Dr Peter Medee as local government collation officers and INEC adhoc staff.
Members of the APC in Rivers state are insisting that INEC declares the candidate of the AAC, Amara Biokpomabo as winner of the March 9 gubernatorial election claiming he scored majority of the votes, a claim the PDP has refuted.
