Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been dethroned as emir of Kano.
The decision to dethrone Emir Sanusi was reached today after a special session of the Kano state executive council where his fate was sealed.
Sanusi has been at loggerhead with Governor Ganduje of Kano, over some of the his policies considered by the former CBN boss as being archaic and undemocratic.
Governor Ganduje had commenced the process of watering down the Emir’s influence by creating new emirates out of the existing Kano emirate and setting up panels to look into allegations of corruption against the emir.
Meanwhile, Sanusi is yet to comment on his dethronment and whether or not he’ll seek legal redress.
