Jega applauds Team New Nigeria’s role in building a better-governed Nigeria.

As part of its national strategic engagement program, Team New Nigeria led by the national president, Modibbo Yakubun Farakwai yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.

In a statement made available to Neptune Prime by the National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Adah Shaibu, the strategic engagement was driven by a need to formally introduce Team New Nigeria (TNN) to Professor Jega and also provide both parties with an opportunity to x-ray Nigeria in its present political and civic contexts aimed at evaluating recent developments in the polity.

The team also acknowledged the various roles played by Professor Jega in Nigeria’s democratic space; especially His contributions to deepening democratic values in Nigeria via the conduct of credible elections.

Professor Jega on the other hand averred that individuals and groups of goodwill must work together to salvage Nigeria from bad leadership.

He expressed support for the values, mission and vision of Team New Nigeria as well as the various programs of the TNN aimed at mass mobilizing Nigerians towards playing increased and informed roles in the local political space and indicated willingness to be part of all patriotic efforts of the TNN to make Nigeria a better-governed nation.

Professor Jega also advocated for a deliberate building of sustainable political institutions against individuals and applauded Team New Nigeria for starting on the right note and remaining at the forefront of advocacy for good leadership.
