A Federal Capital Territory High Court has sentenced Maryam Sanda to death for killing her husband, Mr Bilyaminu Bello.
Maryam has been standing trial for alleged culpable homicide, over an incidence that occured on November 19, 2017; she stabbed her husband to death following an allegation of infidelity after intercepting a text message on his mobile device.
Also charged alongside Maryam is her mother, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu, a former Managing Director of Aso Savings and their domestic help, Ms. Sadiya Aminu, for assisting Maryam to conceal the evidence of the crime.
The trial judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, said Maryam was guilty of the offence and deserved to die, a visibly distraught Maryam wailed in court and attempted to run away as she was escorted out by officials of the Nigerian Prison Service.
