Authorities of Nigeria’a ministry of health have confirmed the country’s first case of the dreaded coronavirus.
The minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire confirmed this via his twitter handle – @DrEOEhanire.
The case which was confirmed yesterday in Nigeria’s densely populated Lagos, is the first case to be reported in the country since the outbreak in China in January 2020.
While the country appears unprepared to handle any health emergency, it’s left to be seen the steps Nigeria’s government led by President Muhammadu Buhari will take to curtail the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
Recall that Nigeria under the administration of former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan effectively handled the spread of the Ebola virus, which lead to the death of some medical professionals.
