Ondo state has become the first state in South Western Nigeria to officially commission officers for the regional security outfit ‘Amotekun corps’.
The idea of a regional security outfit was conceived to protect citizens of the region from attacks by bandits, fulani herdsmen, cattle rustlers and other forms of insecurity the region faces daily.
The outfit is meant to compliment the activities of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in combating crime and criminality.
With the inauguration in Ondo state, other states in the region are expected to join the train with similar inauguration after training of their officers.
