Robert Gabriel Mugabe passes on.

First President of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe is dead. Mugabe died in Singapore where he’s been battling ill health for some time.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, alerted the world of Mugabe’s exit via series of tweets earlier today.

“It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe,

Cde Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Robert Mugabe who was aged 95 was President from 1980 to 2017 when he was ousted from power via a military coup, was one of Africa’s most controversial leaders.

    Though controversial, he was a very strong and liberal leader whose outright advocacy for the liberation of the blacks from the slurs of the colonial masters will never be forgotten in a hurry.
