After several promotions resulting from several years of dedication, hardworking and exceptional excellence, he became the Vice Chairman, ExxonMobil Affiliates in Nigeria.
Following in his father’s footsteps of honesty and accountability Mr Inoyo’s guiding principle is “keep it simple, know thyself, be diligent and above all be honest”. These principles have seen him through the career ladder – including his emergence as the first Akwa Ibomite to be appointed as General Manager of Exxon Mobil.
Udom Inoyo is the brain behind Concerned Akwa Ibom Professionals based in Lagos(CAKPIL), a group which has served as a rallying point for Akwa Ibom professionals in different spheres, providing an atmosphere for bonding, support and celebrating each other’s successes. He was also instrumental to the taking off of the International Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research(ICEER) at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, the centre drives innovative research and manpower development in science and technology, to promote environmental sustainability as well as facilitate social and economic development.

As a man who believes in creating initiatives that will engender community development, the INOYO TORO FOUNDATION provides a means of investing in the future of Akwa Ibom teachers (and ultimately students). The foundation focuses on “fostering positive and healthy competition for excellence among teachers, who may not have been accorded commensurate respect, regard and appreciation for the work they do”. The Teachers Award is an annual event held to celebrate and reward teachers in various subjects and encourage others to rise to the challenge. These efforts of Udom & Ntekpe Inoyo has received recognition both at home and abroad for the continuous advancement of education in Akwa Ibom.
The Mentorship program of the Inoyo Toro Foundation is focused on helping students choose a career path. These students are mentored by professionals from various fields who have distinguished themselves and now serve as a guide to these young minds who are constantly searching for answers to the many questions on their minds.
The deplorable state of the Eket – Ibeno road had remained a nightmare for commuters for years, until the efforts of Mr Inoyo brought smiles to commuters and indigenes of communities on the road alike – he will always remain their hero, the man who considered their plight, listened to them and gave them a new lease of life. The road which used to take several hours to ply was taken over by Mobil Nigeria through the intervention of Mr Inoyo(with over eight billion Naira spent, the hitherto impassable road is now in good shape).
His intervention in the crisis between the National Petroleum Investment Management Services(NAPIMS), Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) and Contractors saved these key stakeholders from months of unnecessary back and forth, a gesture which the affected contractors continue to show gratitude for.
Mr Udom Inoyo has recieved several honours in recognition of his outstanding career successes but most importantly for his humanitarian efforts. The INOYO HAVENS a 100 unit housing estate built in his honour by the Exxon Mobil staff Cooperative Society being one of such, is a testament to the appreciation of his hardwork and integrity within the company. Mr Inoyo has also been honoured with the Distinguished Service Award by the Institute of Petroleum Studies, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
